What's Behind Every Celebration?

 In a place where beauty and culture clash, preparation for every celebration is a must. Vigan City is renowned for its stunning tourist destinations, which manage to evoke a sense of the past with its well-preserved old houses and cobblestone streets. Every year in the first month, the City throws a big celebration that features every Ilocanos custom. From the way they dance, their music, the food, the places, and even the style of clothing.

One of the important reasons on why Ilocanos celebrate their festivals is to preserve their culture that they have. The saying "Pamana ng Nakaraan ay Kayamanan ng Kasalukuyan" states that our ancestors' customs and traditions are priceless since they reflect our values and our origins.

Additionally, festivals improve one's financial position. this is because many people travel to a certain city to participate in the celebration when it hosts a feast. At this point, their presence can assist our local businesses in increasing sales. by purchasing their goods. Specifically, burnay, empanadas, bagnet Vigan, and more locally produced goods.

Moreover, throwing such a large event strengthens our bonds as a community. Many individuals are going about their daily businesses, practicing the Ilocanos for their marching band, choreographing the festival dance, and setting up stalls full of beautiful merchandise as they get ready for the big event. With that being said, hosting such gatherings will improve relationships between people and increase social engagement.

To put it briefly, the Ilocos Sur Festival 2024 is significant because it helps to maintain the culture that our ancestors passed to us. Additionally, it strengthens our economy since visitors and fellow Ilocanos support local goods and services. Finally, it strengthens bonds throughout the community.
