Jose Rizal, a Symbolism of Hope, Change, and Freedom

When we hear the phrase "Noli Me Tángere," Dr. Jose Rizal, our great national hero, immediately comes to mind.

Even as young children, we were already familiar with his name from others in our immediate vicinity and had even seen his image on a peso coin. In addition, there are memorials strewn in every part of the nation honoring his memory and heroism for the Philippines, our beloved country. He always receives appreciation and praise without discovering the scope of what he gave up just to fight for the freedom and to push the change that he aspire for our country.

Do you know anything about the Noli Me Tangere television adaptation? In which Barbie Forteza played your favorite character, "klay," and David Licuaco performed the role of "fidel." You may have been unaware, though, that this adaption exposed the disease of society in addition to being the story of a modern lady who traveled back in time to meet her true love. For example, abusing those who are powerless, misusing authority, and withholding the facts they are entitled to. Heartfelt gratitude to Jose Rizal for writing this book and arousing the sleeping Filipinos from their ignorance of the Spanish dominance over us.

In addition, Rizal and other Filipino heroes who have battled for independence are to thank for the freedom we currently enjoy. He battled for it without resorting to violence, without drawing a sword and shedding blood, but instead by using his pen and hand to create a variety of literary works that clearly showed his love for his nation. His political writings fueled the Philippine revolution and finally led to his death by the Spanish conquerors.

Furthermore, Rizal also made the contribution of being a symbol of hope despite having left this world a long time ago. He is a great source of motivation for Filipinos, particularly the younger generation, who aspire for change. Not only a change in society but also a transformation inside.

In summary, Jose Rizal made a significant contribution to the current state of freedom through his literary masterpieces, La Solidaridad, Noli Me Tangere, and El Filibusterismo, which allowed us to fight for it in a nonviolent manner. He was also successful in awakening the sleeping Filipinos with his works. Finally, he serves as a fantastic example of optimism for the transformation we must begin with ourselves. To cure the cancer that we uphold in our society, it must start within us first.
